Our Local Rules should be read in conjunction with the Rules of Golf.
OUT OF BOUNDS:
Ground outside the Club boundaries.
ROADS AND PATHS:
All concrete paths and bitumen surfaces are immovable obstructions from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1. All other tracks and paths are integral objects and a ball coming to rest on such road or path shall be played as it lies or declared unplayable under Rule 19.
YELLOW PENALTY AREA:
The pond by the 17th green is a yellow penalty area, with the penalty area defined by the water’s edge (refer to Rule 17.1d).
RED PENALTY AREAS:
The burn from the 3rd to the 18th hole is a red penalty area. All other red penalty areas are defined by red stakes and/or a red line (refer to Rule 17.1d).
IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS:
All stakes defining penalty areas, ropes and watering equipment including hoses and sprinklers are immovable obstructions (refer to Rule 16.1).
MOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS:
All hoops are movable obstructions (refer to Rule 15.2).
STAKED TREES:
The young trees or shrubs identified by a stake are no play zones. If a player’s ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a penalty area and it lies on or touches such a tree or such a tree interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the player must take relief without penalty under Rule 16.1f. The ball may be cleaned when lifted. The stakes (and/or guards) are immovable obstructions.
FIXED SPRINKLER HEADS:
All fixed sprinkler heads including tap covers on or within two club lengths of the putting green and on the line of play are immovable obstructions. When the ball is in the general area, the player may also take relief under Rule 16.1b if the immovable obstruction is on the line of play, within two club‑lengths of the putting green and within two club-lengths of the ball.
ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITIONS:
Course work or protected areas defined by a continuous white line are no play zones from which play is prohibited. If a player’s ball lies in the area, or if it interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the player must take relief under Rule 16.1f. Areas defined by a continuous black line are ground under repair where players may choose to take relief under Rule 16.1b.
LIGHTNING & THUNDER / EXTREME WEATHER:
Signal for suspending play: one prolonged note of the siren. Signal to resume play: two short notes of the siren. Play must be discontinued immediately following the suspension of play.
Penalty for Breach of Local Rule: General Penalty.
General Penalty: loss of hole in match play and a two-stroke penalty in stroke play.
