Wins for Four Teams!

It was another great round for our Simpson Cup, Bonnar Cup and Junior Div 2 teams with wins all round! Our Women’s Cleek 2 team also won their first round of the season, defeating Blackwood 3.5/1.5. Please see below for full results of this week’s Pennant round. Pike Cup kick off their season this week, with Sanderson Cup and Sharp Cup both having a Bye in their first round. Full details of this week’s draws will be posted later this week.

This week we played Thaxted Park at Royal Adelaide. Thaxted had come off a good win last week against Royal Adelaide so we were expecting some stiff opposition.

Geoff Brennan and Freddie Cassell got out to big leads early and closed out their matches with big wins. This set a great platform for the team. Will at 6 got into his stride after 5 holes and also posted a big win. Joel, Heath, Frank and Kyle were challenged at various times in their matches. All 4 were able to pull things together through holes 11 to 16 and went on to post strong wins.

We are now 2 wins from 2 starts, our best start to a season in many years. Next week we face Southern at Thaxted Park. Thaxted does provide some unique challenges and John and Dan will be getting the boys to focus early in the week on how to best play the course. 

Once again Kooyonga had the most supporters on the course with a sea of blue greeting Frank and Kyle as they came through the closing holes. Thank you to all those members who came out. Speaking to many of them I know they are super impressed with the standard of golf they are witnessing.

Another great effort by the players of Kooyonga again resulting in a 3-2 victory against the Vines GC. Akira Huang, Hayden Howard and Nic Fotinos won their games whilst Darcy Brown and Malachy Marshall narrowly missed out but not without putting up a great fight against two very good opponents. 

Congratulations once again to all the players and parents who made it an enjoyable day out on the course.
